Haydon – Musician, Songwriter, Performer
Originally from North Cornwall, Haydon’s musical journey began in local pubs and festivals, where he honed his craft through a mix of genres, from funk and punk to rock and indie. Influenced by bands like The Police, Arctic Monkeys, U2, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his sound remains eclectic and diverse.
Whilst studying in Sheffield, Haydon immersed himself in the exciting indie scene, playing with various bands and exploring different musical styles. He also performed solo shows and supported both signed and independent artists.
Returning to Cornwall, Haydon formed freedomfalls, where he and his bandmates toured for 8 years, releasing three albums, gaining radio play on Pirate FM and Radio Cornwall, and supporting acts like The Wurzels. After a hiatus to focus on family life, he rekindled his passion for writing music during lockdown, releasing the album Welcome to the World, which tackled political themes with a mix of funk, rock, and indie influences.
In recent years, Haydon has embraced solo acoustic performances, delivering intimate shows that highlight his songwriting and connect deeply with audiences. His latest project is a folk album, The Sounds of the Sea, inspired by the natural beauty of the North Cornish coastline and Tamar Valley. Set for release in early 2025, it showcases his journey of overcoming life's challenges and finding hope.
You can catch Haydon performing in a variety of settings: from solo acoustic gigs at local venues, to headline slots with The Flaming Emmets and Midnight Jam, as well as supporting acts at festivals and open mic events.
